About Dr. Nagel…
It is a pleasure to meet you, and I look forward to helping out with your care. I have been performing EMG/NCS studies for the past 27 years. I am board eligible with the American Academy of Electrodiagnostic Medicine and have completed a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with electrodiagnostic training far exceeding the requirements of the Board and of a typical fellowship in electrodiagnostic medicine.
I have been practicing Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation since 1986. I attended college at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, medical school at the University of Rochester, internship in Internal Medicine at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, and residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the State University of New York at Buffalo.
I moved to New Hampshire in 1989 where I joined the staff at Easter Seals of New Hampshire and Vermont, serving as medical director from 1990 until 1994 where I headed clinics in head injury, occupational injury, prosthetics, geriatrics, developmental disability, electromyography/nerve conduction studies, and chronic pain.
In 1990, I joined Concord Orthopaedics, PA where the initial focus of my practice was on the non-surgical management of spine pain as well as chronic pain management. In 1994, I changed that focus to include interventional pain management and acupuncture, in addition to pain management. Since 2003, my sole focus has been interventional spinal pain management/spinal injection and electromyography/nerve conduction studies.
I am board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the American Board of Pain Medicine, and the American Board of Medical Acupuncture. I am a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the North American Spine Society, the International Spinal Injection Society, the American Pain Society, and the New England Pain Association. I am proud to be one of the founding members of the Pain Management Task Force for the State of New Hampshire Medical Society where my main interests included the development of state rules to protect the rights of physicians to prescribe opioids for pain control and the rights of pain patients to receive compassionate care including access to opioids. I was also instrumental in initiating a meeting of physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and law enforcement agents for the purpose of improving communication between all those who come in contact with the chronic pain patient, and educating all about the challenges of chronic pain and the need for compassionate care of those individuals who suffer from it. I have spoken locally and nationally on various topics relating to the compassionate care of those suffering from chronic pain.
Currently, I live in Gilmanton with my wife and two sons. I am originally from Buffalo, New York. My main interest in medicine is the compassionate care of those suffering from chronic pain. Outside of medicine, I am an avid triathlete, having completed over 50 triathlons, including the Hawaiian Ironman. I am recently retired as a Boy Scout Scoutmaster, a position I served for 7 years, having been named “Wannalancit District Scoutmaster of the Year” in 2006. I have coached several youth sports teams over the years. My passions are writing and hiking.
